Upon completion of my undergraduate degree, I was driven to become registered as soon as possible to contribute to the field of Interior Design through my actions, work ethic, and volunteer work. I have served as a CIDQ grader, committee member, committee chair, and board member. Board membership has been an important opportunity to contribute further to the industry.
My drive and passion has, in the past, been mostly focused on industry regulation challenges throughout CIDQ’s current group of State and Provincial represented locations while working as an Interior Designer in Utah and a Registered Interior Designer in Nevada, Texas, and currently in Maryland. Universal regulation, which protects the public, professionals, and industry partners, must be expanded to include our industry. As a Registered Interior Designer, I am responsible to advocate for regulating the industry for the safety and protection of the public.
Serving on the CIDQ board gave me a deeper understanding of why and how CIDQ exists and what needs to happen to keep CIDQ strong. Being part of creating CIDQ’s strategy allowed me to utilize my strategic strengths and change management knowledge as the board updated a plan to support CIDQ’s mission and vision. CIDQ's mission and vision focus on ensuring the public’s health, safety, and welfare (HSW) through the NCIDQ test and global leadership. CIDQ’s board and staff were invaluable throughout these processes. Each person has distinct specialties and perspectives that contributed to the overall success.
